Delft Institute for Earth-Oriented Space research (DEOS)
DEOS combines space engineering, earth science and geo-information technology in a unique way to serve society, and with that constitutes the centre for earth observation systems and geomathematics in the Netherlands.
DEOS is known as the Delft institute for Earth-Oriented Space Research as well as the Department of Earth Observation and Space Systems. Due to reorganizations within the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, the latter has been discontinued as of 1 January 2011. Though the formal ties have been cut, the different groups continue working together on topics related to Earth-Oriented Space research.
The research potential and expertise of four internationally renowned groups have been synergistically bundled:
- Mathematical Geodesy and Positioning MGP
- Physical and Space Geodesy PSG
- Optical and Laser Remote Sensing OLRS
and
- Astrodynamics and Space missions AS (DEOS point of contact).
