Aerospace Engineering and DUT Racing Team

The story behind.. Remco Advocaat
My name is Remco Advocaat and from now I will fill up the gap of Operations Manager within DUT Racing. I am 5th years Aerospace Engineering student, willing to complete my Bachelors this year. In the meanwhile I started the Master "Design, Integration & Operations of Aircraft and Rotorcraft". Last year I participated together with 9 other students in the Bachelors final project, the Design Synthesis Exercise. The subject of the project was the design of a Formula Student race car powered by alternative fuels. After an extensive literature research, batteries came out best from a group of other fuels like pressurized air, nuclear power, the fuel cell and hydrogen combustion. The concept of battery powered propulsion has been worked out into detail, which led to a complete new design of a Formula Student car. Given the fact that the organization of Formula Student Germany decided to set up a new competition, Formula Student Electric, last summer, we started to research if our concept could be adjusted to fit into an existing DUT Racing car. Since we were left with 4 out of 10 students, we knew the workload would be high. I proposed myself as Team Manager, which I really liked. After that we immediately started to find new team members and sponsors. Unfortunately, we decided to delay the project for one year due to a lack of time until the first Formula Student Electric event in August. Then the offer came of becoming Operations Manager within DUT Racing, which I happily accepted. Meanwhile, I am working in my new job for almost one month and I really feel myself at home. I hope that with me as Operations Manager, Lennart will get more time to fulfill his job as Team Manager.
